Drip, Drip, Drip-More Reckless Tahoe Development

Boulder Bay/Resort At Tahoe

  • Beesley’s Cottages isn’t on the market, EKN just didn’t bother to remove the For Sale sign
  • EKN has also purchased Cedar Glen Resort in Tahoe Vista for around $10m
  • EKN has been hosting Realtor and Chamber parties.  Photos weren’t allowed.  Original project approved for an astounding 358 units plus a casino.  No new revised application has been presented to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.  They claim a proposed reduction from 275 hotel rooms to 118.  Condos will increase from 59 to 67.  EKN hasn’t disclosed whether that number includes or is in addition to the 18 luxury condos already built.

There will be no reduction from the original plan in the number or height of buildings or structure footprint.  It defies logic how their new proposal will be smaller.

Cal-Neva-

  • Purchased in 2017, but still no movement.  Larry Ellison also bought the Incline Hyatt for north of $350m.

Tahoe Inn

  •  10 unit motel that was supposed to be open space once Homewood used the units for their Westshore project.  Now Homewood developer is proposing 110 affordable residential condos on the Brockway site.

39 Degrees-

  •   Formerly the Kings Beach Town Center is now coming out with 263 units.  153 hotel rooms and 110 condos.

Laulima (Ferrari Crown Property)

  • Could build a total of 151 units on either side of SR 28.  Proposal to build 10 lakefront condos failed, but we hear they are coming back with it again.

Martis Valley West-

  • 760 luxury homes on 700 acres on the ridge atop SR 267.  Although shot down by the courts this year, Taylor Builders, the developer, can come back again, redo their EIS, seek a new round of approvals, and hold more public meetings.  Taylor Builders and Placer County have already met with one of the plaintiffs.

Palisades/Squaw Valley-

  • Another huge project shot down by the courts this year.  In May, the developer indicated they are coming back for new approvals.

Tahoe City Lodge-

  •  Although not built, the developer is pre-selling 65 condos.  Hotel comes later?

Boatworks Mall/Tahoe City Inn-

  • Includes the old Fantasy Inn.  Proposal for 116 units(85 hotel units and 31 condos).

Homewood Resort-

  •  Over 300 units proposed.  Now JMA Investments will privatize the ski area.  The project is receiving funding from a Canadian Israeli entrepreneur who sold online “Poker Star” for billions.

These projects will add thousands of car trips each day, yet our two lane infrastructure hasn’t change, Tahoe is less clear and wildfire risk has increased.
