TRPA MOVES TO INCREASE HEIGHT TO 5 STORIES (65′) BY DECEMBER 2023

While Placer County claims not to increase height further, they know what TRPA is up to.
Last night’s Placer County webinar on the proposed Tahoe Basin Area Plan (TBAP) raised more concerns.

Originally, our Supervisor, Cindy Gustafson tried to expedite the amendments through at the North Tahoe Regional Advisory Council (NTRAC) last October, but the public caught on and raised alarms.

Here we are 4 months since the last public meeting and Placer has changed the plan again without providing an executive summary on the 300 plus page document.  And you the reader must decipher the redlined and further redlined changes.

Pretending neutrality, the County claims there will be plenty of time to influence the process, but also say they are recommending approval of the plan as it moves forward.  Placer County approval of TBAP approval is being staged in front of Placer Planning on August 10^th at the Events Center.  It’s all about the money, you hear what they say, but you see what they do.  The plan is a developer’s wish list:
1. No income cap for achievable housing.  You could be a multi-millionaire and qualify.
2. No parking requirements for ADU’s or Tiny Homes. The grid already has a parking problem.
3. No minimum parking required for projects.  2 year parking exemption? What a gift.
4. Added height for transition areas…what does that mean?
5. Tourist Accommodation incentives…what is that?
6. Private parking lots? Overnight camping in parking lots.
7. No capacity or fire evacuation analysis.
8. No cumulative review of the 13+ projects currently on the books.

Tahoe has lost its environmental watchdog.  TRPA and the County are determined to develop Tahoe.

AUGUST 10^TH EVENTS CENTER IN KINGS BEACH. BE THERE.  STAND UP. THESE CHANGES ARE COMING EVERYWHERE IN THE BASIN. STAY TUNED FOR TIME AND DETAIL.
